Monday, 8/27/12: Used Uniform Exchange 10am-12pm Outreach: Emmanuel House Children of St. Peter School Partner with Dave's Marketplace to Make a Difference. As we sit in our warm homes after another snow day, we might not stop and think of the thousands of homeless who are on the streets at this time of year. The Diocese of Providence recently opened The Emmanuel House homeless shelter. Since it's opening in early December, the shelter has been overflowing. The Emmanuel House has been featured in the news as they add beds. They have asked members of the community to donate items for its everyday operations. The facility was established as a "sleep shelter only", with no food provided. But with the dangerously cold weather they have been open around the clock as a safe haven for homeless families and individuals. The children of St. Peter School want to make a big difference! The school partnered with Dave's Marketplace to deliver pre-packaged snacks and beverages on Friday, February 4th. The students were asked to include an extra snack as they pack their lunch this week. Snacks were collected at the school and at the end of the week, the snacks were brought to The Emmanuel House by representatives of St. Peter School. Please read the archived email regarding SPS and Emmanuel House...

"Once our eyes are opened, we can’t pretend we don’t know what to do. God, who weighs our hearts and knows our souls, knows that we know, and holds us responsible to act." Christmas Caroling: We were blessed with a beautiful night for grades 1-4 to serenade the neighborhood with Christmas Carols. After the singing was done the children were treated to cocoa and cookies.
SPS Christmas Concert: The 2010 SPS Christmas Concert was probably the best one we have ever had, and we have had excellent concerts in the past! All the children sang and performed beautifully. I would like to thank Ms. Shatakhtsian for the excellent preparation of the children and for the wonderful music program she provides us at St. Peter School.
