St. Peter School has been awarded the Whole Kids Garden Grant from Whole Foods! We will have more details to share in May, but the “Flower Power Friends Garden Club” will certainly benefit from the resources! We have started plants in the science room and they will be transplanted to the outdoor garden space in a few weeks.

Hello, all,

Our Roots and Shoots group has reorganized to form a garden club, with the cheerful name “Flower Power Friends.” We are anxiously awaiting planting a garden in the space near the administration building. We have ordered free seeds from URI Outreach Center, and will plant the seeds in an indoor greenhouse in the science room, until they are ready to be transferred to the outside garden plot. Also, we will be setting up a hydroponic growing system to see how that works!  Are you interested in helping with the garden?  If so, please email me at mrsunger@verizon.net

Hello all,
The Roots and Shoots Club had a successful first year, and we are looking forward to new adventures this year! Last year we donated supplies to the zoo, collected change for the “Pennies for the Planet” campaign, and planted a small garden. This year we are taking a small hiatus until January. Fr. Gagne has very kindly offered his garden space for us to use, so we will be starting plants in the spring, and establishing the St. Peter School Garden! If any parents are interested in helping to keep our garden growing, please email me at mrsunger@verizon.net. We will be working in the garden during Activity Period (Thursdays @ 1:15-2:00) and other times throughout the school day. A schedule will be established as the growing season approaches. Any donations of garden equipment will be appreciated, although we do have some equipment. Thanks, as always, for your support. Roots and Shoots members, sign up for the next activity in January, and we will start to plan our garden! Hmmm…do I see a greenhouse in St. Peter’s future?
